Crompton Technology Group

CTG, a UTC Aerospace Systems company, is a leader in the design, development and manufacture of advanced composite products and systems for the aerospace industry. Specialising in filament winding the company has established an international reputation for its innovation, quality and successful development of composite solutions across a wide business spectrum, including Composite Pipes and Isolators, Transmission Shafts, and Structural aircraft Tie Rods and Struts.

About CTG

Based in a brand new 137,000 square foot Composite Centre of Excellence, CTG has a fully flexible production capability, ranging from one-off problem-solving and bespoke projects to meet specific customer requirements, to volume manufacturing. Its design, development and testing facilities allow for new techniques and concepts to be created and fully tested in-house to ensure products meet the highest quality standards. The company has ISO 9001, AS 9100 and ISO 14001 accreditations for its quality and environmental management.

CTG's composite products are exceptionally strong, long-lasting, lightweight and, in many applications, require little maintenance. As an alternative to metals and alloys, they can deliver significant operating cost savings, reduce energy use and carbon emissions, and open up new possibilities in design by being easier to form into complex shapes, without compromising strength or durability.

UTC Aerospace Systems designs, manufactures and services integrated systems and components for the aerospace and defense industries. For further information on UTC Aerospace Systems go to: www.utcaerospacesystems.com.

CTG History

1986 - 2010

CTG first made composite products for the medical and later automotive industry. Using its experience from automotive carbon composite shafts and its patented composite to metal joining technology, CTG developed High Lift Shafts for A330 and A400M. Using its knowledge of filament winding glass fibre CTG developed composite fuel pipes for A350.

2010 - 2012

CTG continued to grow and when Goodrich acquired it they built a new 137,000 square foot Composite Centre of Excellence which CTG moved in to. CTG continued to develop more High Lift Systems for aircrafts including the A350, 787 and Cseries including the development of TORQdiscs for the CSeries High Lift system.

2012 - Present

Following the acquisition by UTC and the formation of UTC Aerospace System (UTAS), CTG started to focus solely on aerospace. CTG has won a number of large contracts including the A350 fuel pipes system, which with the help of UTAS, industrialised and automated the manufacturing process. CTG continued to evolve the shaft product developing it for the JSF Weapon Bay Door.
