We specialise in high-volume composites and our innovative solutions ensure that we can bring products to market in a timely manner. We have a full aerospace qualification test capability with the bulk of testing being undertaken in house at our Banbury facility. CTG is also at the forefront of composite research exploring the manufacture of complex shapes and adjustable fittings, without compromising on weight or structural integrity. This Team has also developed advanced composite transmission shafts which provide a three fold weight advantage over the titanium equivalent.
Our composite facility is home to the latest technological equipment in our field. The automated production line can manufacture a fuel pipe in less than four minutes. These fuel pipes provide protection from lightning strike damage, and are built to last the entire life of the aircraft without any maintenance required.
We have a highly-skilled Research and Development team. One of their major successes includes the development and production of advanced transmission shaft. A composite shaft weighs a mere 280 grams per meter, but the titanium equivalent weighs 1,200 grams – an impressive weight saving.

CTG first made composite products for the medical and later automotive industry. Using its experience from automotive carbon composite shafts and its patented composite to metal joining technology, CTG developed High Lift Shafts for A330 and A400M. Using its knowledge of filament winding glass fibre CTG developed composite fuel pipes for A350.
CTG continued to grow and when Goodrich acquired it they built a new 137,000 square foot Composite Centre of Excellence which CTG moved in to. CTG continued to develop more High Lift Systems for aircrafts including the A350, 787 and Cseries including the development of TORQdiscs for the CSeries High Lift system.
Following the acquisition by UTC and the formation of UTC Aerospace System (UTAS), CTG started to focus solely on aerospace. CTG has won a number of large contracts including the A350 fuel pipes system, which with the help of UTAS, industrialised and automated the manufacturing process. CTG continued to evolve the shaft product developing it for the JSF Weapon Bay Door.
